Instead, they are mean-spirited and toxic to a degree that makes the show uncomfortable to watch. Shows like Big Brother need fun villains to make an entertaining product, but there are some personalities who aren't villains in a strategic or game sense. However, despite Taylor's extremely generous pleas to the fans to take it easy on him, Daniel is in for a rude awakening when he leaves the house. Taylor expressed her concerns about the optics of him, a white man, berating her, a Black woman, as they pertain to his life outside of the house. He has since offered a weak half-apology to Taylor for his treatment of her. Though he hasn't physically assaulted anyone or engaged in overt acts of racism, like controversial houseguests from past seasons, Daniel's ugly and problematic behavior places him in unenviable company among the show's most viscerally unpleasant personalities. Nicole behaved horribly, of course, but Daniel outright bullied Taylor to an alarming degree, blaming her for Paloma's self-eviction, telling her to " f-k off," and ordering her to never speak to him again, cementing himself as the least popular Big Brother houseguest in years. Taylor, oblivious to the reason for Nicole's breakdown, was acting in good faith and trying to comfort her supposed friend, but the situation led to Daniel berating Taylor in front of the house on Nicole's behalf, and causing her to burst into tears. Big Brother star Taylor was saved on eviction night due to the unexpected exit of Paloma Aguilar, who was one of the galvanizing forces behind Taylor's isolation. Initially reluctant to nominate her, Daniel acquiesced to the will of the majority of the house, who had ostracized, belittled, and insulted Taylor behind her back for the entire week. However, Daniel's popularity with the fanbase waned considerably in week one, when, as Head of Household, he targeted Taylor Hale for eviction.
